APILA – Aboriginal Progressive Interactive Learning Activity
This innovative ACAS project focuses on the educational needs of primary schools with a significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in the North-West and New England areas of NSW.
The project aims are:
- To increase the high school preparedness of students coming from small public schools with a high Aboriginal population.
- To increase access to educational software that enhances learning in primary aged students.
- To increase the access to technology for small schools.
Public schools at Enngonia, Tabulam, Walhallow, Bellbrook, Gilgandra, Toomelah and Brewarrina are among the fifteen schools who have benefitted from the project.
There are significant indications that the project costing ACAS over $180 000 has increased the motivation of students through access to a variety of technological resources that result in greater engagement in curriculum rich experiences.
Our strategic plan 2022-2025 provides ACAS with the opportunity to again implement the Aboriginal Progressive Interactive Learning Activity. Corporate partners would be welcome to join with ACAS in supporting Indigenous education. Please contact admin@acas.org.au.
